This year’s Provincial Meeting was another very well attended occasion with over a thousand Hertfordshire Masons gathering in the splendid surroundings of the Grand Temple at Freemasons’ Hall.
The PGM announced the retirement of VW Bro. James Young as Deputy Provincial Grand Master, after more than 20 years as an active Officer in the Province, including 13 years on the Provincial Executive. He paid tribute to VW Bro James’ hard work, support and sense of humour, describing him as the archetypal ‘good egg’.
W Bro. David Ferris was then installed as the new Deputy Provincial Grand Master, and W Bro Neil Connolly as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master.
In his address, the Provincial Grand Master announced the relaunch of the Provincial website, and thanked Bro. James Davis of Royston Lodge, the new webmaster, who has worked so hard on the new design. He also thanked all those involved in the very successful Family Fun Day that was held in the summer, especially the organisers, Provincial Grand Charity Steward Chris Noble and W Bro Stew Willett.
There was a final surprise for the Provincial Grand Master – after Provincial Grand Lodge was closed, the Provincial Grand Secretary rose to inform the Brethren that it was the PGM’s birthday, and he invited all present to join in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to RW Bro Paul, which they did with great enthusiasm!
