We are all facing an economic crisis, the likes of which this country has not witnessed for a very long time. It is therefore important that you are made aware of what help is available to you as Freemasons and your families during these tough times. I am of course referring to the Masonic Charitable Foundation, or the MCF as it is more commonly referred to.

Brethren this is your charity. It is funded by you. It is for you and your families. It serves to assist you in time of need. The MCF can help with grants for daily living costs and other urgent costs, medical treatment, mobility aids, counselling, grants to children and young people’s education. These are just a few of the support services available.

It should go without saying that as Freemasons we are all Almoners. It is our duty to look after each other in time of need. It’s what we stand for. None of us will want to hear about any of our fellow Freemasons and families or widows going without food or being unable to keep sufficiently warm during the winter months. We must therefore be extra vigilant.

So if you become aware of someone in genuine need of help please do not hesitate to contact me hertsprovgalmoner@gmail.com or your Lodge Almoner, alternatively please contact the MCF direct 0800 035 60 90.

Together we can make a difference. Let’s make sure nobody in our fraternity slips through the net going without food or warmth. There is help out there. Please use it.
