The Lodge today
We consider ourselves a ‘family’ lodge with the warmth and congeniality which that naturally generates. We are however very proud of the quality of our ritual; this we maintain by having weekly rehearsals at Radlett – but with a long summer recess!
Our history
The lodge was founded in 1947 in central London. For more than sixty years we met at Freemasons Hall, Great Queen St, London with dining at an array of local hotels. In 2013 we moved our meetings (and dining) to the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons on Finchley Road. This is the headquarters of the Lady Freemasons and they made us very welcome, at the same time we changed from four meetings each year to three. In 2021 we were told that their current premises were being sold, needing to quickly find an alternative venue, we found ourselves meeting (and dining) at Radlett Masonic Centre. We expected to be there for only a few short years. We were made exceedingly welcome and have remained there ever since. A large proportion of our 21 members live in Hertfordshire; others predominately in North London.
In November 2022, shortly after the Covid 19 restrictions on masonic meetings had been lifted, we celebrated our 75th anniversary meeting with senior rulers in the craft from both London and Hertfordshire attending. Also, our lodge banner was re-dedicated by Rabbi Svi Solomons – the Assistant Grand Chaplain.
As the lodge had remained part of Metropolitan Grand Lodge, for each meeting at Radlett we needed to have permission form both Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge of Hertfordshire. In late 2025 the lodge decided to petition to move from being a Metropolitan lodge to being a Hertfordshire lodge. In April 2026 The Most Worshipful The Grand Master HRH Duke of Kent acceded to our request. A decision which made us very happy.
In the community
Charity is the cornerstone of Freemasonry, and is the cornerstone of Lodge of Enterprise. Not only do we financially contribute to local and national charities, many of our members are also active in participating in them.
