The Lodge today
Eastgate Lodge has its members drawn from around the three counties of Hertfordshire, Essex & Middlesex. We hold regular meetings of LOI every other Tuesdayand encourage members to attend and take part in the work. Today our Inner Guard is a brother along with our Senior Warden and supported by past Masters in other offices. Over the decdes we have had a number of Father & sons, Son in Laws, Uncles and blood brothers as members and most have been Masters of the lodge.
Our history
King Harold is our mother lodge and we were Consecrated on 7th July 1948. We celebrated our 50th year meeting with the Initiation of a Lewis son of a mason "in fact the grandson of a member" and also celebrated our 75th year meeting again with an Initiation. A tradition we still continue is that of wearing Dinner Suits for all of our meetings and have been called in the past the "Waiters Lodge". We have had over the course of time members join us from other lodges due to the happy, friendly atmosphere and standard of work we try to maintain.
In the community
Each year we give our Master the privilege of choosing is own charity for the lodge to donate to as well as donating to the Provincial Grand Charity if one is organised. We also give an amount to two or three charities at each meeting which range from National to Local Charities, a number of the members also raise funds for their own personal charities through open water swims and distance walls etc.
Other info
Each year the lodge holds a Ladies Festival which is a weekend away so that the members & their wives/partners can meet up. We have held golf days for members, ladies & guests, on occasions there have been evening meals and the masters have laid on Special days i.e. afternoon tea & croquet tested day.
