The Lodge today

East Herts Border Lodge is well established and one of the largest that meets in Sawbridgeworth. Our friendly and welcoming approach coupled with a high standard of Taylors ritual means our meetings are enjoyable for visitors and members alike. Our Festive Board is always lively with Brethren left feeling “happy to meet again”.

Our history

Amongst businessmen evacuated from London in 1939, to villages on the Herts and Essex borders, were members of London lodges. They were able to maintain their masonic interest by visiting the local lodges. With the end of the War, they decided to form a lodge in the locality from their members. Accordingly the East Herts Border Lodge no 6641 was consecrated on 10th May 1948 that resulted in Taylors Working being introduced to the area.

In the community

The CS regularly looks as local Charities seeking donations and will present to the GPC and or at L of I for due consideration for inclusion in the list of donations at any time of the year.

We do have a small number of designated Charities that we give ongoing support to.
