The Lodge today
The Hertfordshire Imperial Yeomanry Lodge (HIYL 3192) was established in 1906 and has a military background, but it is not exclusively for military members. The lodge meets four times a year at Radlett Masonic Hall and members dine together after each meeting.
The Lodge membership is a diverse mix of ages, faiths, cultures, and professions. Members from various sectors such as transport, healthcare, police, construction, advertising, and IT contribute to the lodge's vibrant community.
The lodge emphasises camaraderie and support among members, assisting each other with all activities in the Lodge. We prioritise inclusivity and provide mentorship to new members to ensure they feel welcome and supported in their Freemasonry journey. The lodge engages in charity fundraising activities, including an annual Ladies Festival, and aims to continue this legacy for many years to come.
Our history
The Hertfordshire Imperial Yeomanry Lodge (No 3192) was consecrated 6 December 1906.
The Lodge was consecrated at Restaurant Frascati, London, as a London Lodge by V. W. Bro Sir Edward Letchworth, the Grand Secretary. One of the founders was Bro T.F. Halsey, the Deputy Grand Master and Provincial Grand Master of Hertfordshire, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Regiment. The sponsoring Lodge was Acacia Lodge No. 1314. The Lodge was established for the convenience of all ranks who served with the Herts Yeomanry Cavalry, the 42nd Company Imperial Yeomanry (1900-01), the Herts Imperial Yeomanry, the Herts Yeomanry (Territorial Forces), Permanent Staffs and for their sons. The Lodge transferred to Hertfordshire on 11th September 1991 and meets in Radlett Masonic Hall every first Tuesday of February, April, October and December.
