The Lodge today
Tudor Lodge has a wide range of members of all ages and backgrounds who enthusiastically involve themselves in all aspects of the Lodge, including the ceremonies, social activities and charitable sponsorship. The Lodge uses a unique ritual, determined by the Founders, which is a combination of two standard rituals, and therefore produces its own ritual books, a copy of which every new member receives.
Our history
Tudor Lodge was founded in July 1953 mostly by a group of London Masons who were living in the Watford area and wanted to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The sponsoring Lodge was Abbots Langley No. 4645 and the genealogy line for the Lodge goes back to Union Waterloo Lodge No. 13. The Lodge was consecrated on 9th July 1953 by the RW The Rev. Dr. Joseph Moffett, the Provincial Grand Master at the time, assisted by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Col. Alexander Wood. The Tudor Crest is formed with the Hartford centrepiece, flanked with the two Masonic columns bridged by the Tudor Lodge inscribed banner. The background is the Square and Compasses, the whole standing on the traditional tessellated pavement.
In the community
Tudor Lodge is a regular contributor to charitable causes which the Master of the year nominates and in which the members are involved with locally. In recent years the Lodge has sponsored a puppy for training for the Guide Dogs for the Blind, the local Hospice through an historical masonic demonstration event and the Gurkha Welfare Trust with a themed curry night. Plans for ongoing charitable causes to sponsor and for new events to raise funds are always being discussed.

It was an easy process, I attended a couple of informal interviews and was asked if I’d like to join Tudor Lodge, and what a great decision that has been. It’s opened up so many new friendships and allowed me to be me in the Lodge. I have really taken to Freemasonry and thoroughly enjoy the Lodge meetings. I also try to visit other lodges in the local area whenever I have time. I would recommend Freemasonry to everyone. It really is a great way to socialise and most importantly, to raise money for well deserving charities.
