The Lodge today
We are a small Lodge with members from diverse backgrounds, jobs and interests. Meeting four times a year, we look forward to the meetings, pride ourselves on what we do in the temple, but above all, have fun whilst doing so. There is a sense of family with several father/son members and many members have had previous generations swell the ranks over the years. A good proportion of our members live locally and enjoy catching up both in the Lodge as well as at other social functions outside the usual Masonic circles.
Our history
The Lodge was founded in 1907 by members of Hatfield Lodge and named Welwyn (Lodge), being the neighbouring town. Struggling to find a meeting venue in Welwyn, and after briefly meeting in Hatfield and Waltham Cross, it soon found it’s home at Halsey Hall in Cheshunt in 1931. Initially deriving members from the Enfield Small Arms Factory, local businessmen and the local community, the Lodge has evolved over the years to where we are now, where members recommend family and friends for membership. We celebrated our Centenary in 2007 and look forward to celebrating our 125th year in 2033.
