Provincial Executive

John Norris
Assistant Provincial Grand Master

As an Assistant Provincial Grand Master, John is part of the Executive who assist the Provincial Grand Master in managing the business of the Province. The Assistant Provincial Grand Masters frequently represent the Province at the Installation of a new Master of a Lodge and on other ceremonial occasions and presentations.

John was born in Winchmore Hill in 1957 but moved to Ware in his first year and continues to live there until this day. He has been both a teacher, an organist and, for a period of time, a funeral director. He holds a private pilot’s licence and, in addition to organ playing and travelling, he is also an ardent consumer of real ale and Indian food (interests which sadly cannot always be wisely, or safely, combined).

John was initiated into Hertford Lodge No 403 (the oldest Lodge in the Province) in 1986. He served as Worshipful Master of that Lodge in both 1995 and 2007 and has gone on to join Hertfordshire Master's Lodge No 4090 and the Lodge of the Red Rampant Lyon No 9843.  He is also an active member in both the Royal Arch and Rose Croix.
