Amwell Lodge, founded in June 1947 had W. Bro A H Venison as its first Worshipful Master with a third of its Founders connected with the nursery industry. The Lodge Crest shows the stone on an island in the New River in the village of Amwell, whose inscription states ‘Perpetual by they Stream – part of the Crest. Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey performed the Consecration Ceremony in the Shire Hall, Hertford.
