The formation meeting was held at the Bridge Road Restaurant, Welwyn Garden City and W. Bro Freddie Fulton was in the Chair.
The Founders, of which there were seventeen, belonged to either Mimram or Crusaders Lodge. The cost of the Consecration Meeting held at Ashwell House on the 24th October 1952 was £263.6s.2d. to which the Founders each contributed £11.8s.3d. The first Worshipful Master was, W. Bro F Fulton, PGStB and Eric Chew, the first Treasurer, an office he held for twenty ‘five years. The Crest has as its theme Sherrardswood, the River Mimram and a Hart.
