The Lodge today
Romanum lodge has in recent years been initiating much younger brethren and consequently has a vibrant scene with well attended meetings and regular social events. These events are also well attended by members & guests. The lodge works Taylors ritual and holds regular lodge of instruction.
Our history
After a meeting of various Members of Ashwell House Chaired by W. Bro Bob Cook, it was decided to form a Lodge composed of Masons from London who lived in Hertfordshire. Initially the name of Londinium was suggested. However Grand Lodge would not authorise the use of this name so the name Romanum was used. As St. Albans was a Roman City. Unusually the number of founders was excessive, so it was decided to form two Lodges. Gorhambury No. 8745 and Romanum No. 8758. The Lodge Crest has two Pillars representing the Tower of London and a representation of the Roman Wall of Verulamium, part of which still exists.
In the community
Over the years like many lodges we have helped local charities, including one of our members having a book published & donating the proceeds to local charities. Recently Romanum lodge has helped out Demand, a local charity that adapts wheelchairs & other equipment to assist peoples needs, the Heather club which helps people with dementia and also assisted towards some syringe drivers for local hospices.

Other info
We are a lodge that puts a lot of emphasis on it's social side outside the lodge leading to events that are very well supported.
