The Lodge today
Founded in 1831, Stortford Lodge is the third oldest Lodge in the Province. Its membership then being drawn from the country fraternity and professional classes .'The Lodge now happily embraces members from numerous professions and trades. It meets on four occasions in the year and historically has always been a small Lodge, and by tradition, dining round one dining table.
Our history
For many years the meeting places were in Inns in Bishop's Stortford and following the ceremonies, full opportunity was taken to to dine fulsomely. The Lodge moved to Sawbridgeworth Masonic Centre upon the Centre opening in 1948.The relatively small size of the Centre suits the Lodge well and the Lodge centenary history records the round one table, making for intimacy and a spirit of good fellowship.

In its charitable giving, the Lodge is watchful of the needs of local charities and for many years has made significant donations

A Stortford Lodge meeting will always be identifiable for its recognition of its long history.The furniture and paraphernalia of the Lodge room, conveys that history with fine old furniture. Long established customs are observed both in in the Lodge room and in the dining room. Members are very protective of long established customs and traditions.
