On 6th September 2012, with mixed emotions, W. Bro. Jim Reynolds, PPGSuptWks and acting Worshipful Master, handed in the warrant of the St Amphibalus Lodge No. 9154 to APGM W. Bro.David Ferris and Provincial Secretary Hugh Oram. The Lodge, which was consecrated on 25th March 1985, has recently found it impossible to maintain regularity and support and had bravely and realistically decided to surrender their warrant. It also fell to Jim to give a history of the Lodge to the 26 brethren in attendance. It was particularly poignant for W. Bro. Jim who was a Founder and First WM of the Lodge and had served for 23 years as Director of Ceremonies.
It was also sad for Founder W. Bro. Peter Butcher PPAGDC, who spoke fondly and emotionally in response to the toast to Founders, Past Masters and Officers of the Lodge. All of the members present had supported the Lodge wonderfully well through good times and bad and were faithful to the end.
It was sad to see the Lodge having to take this course of action but the brethren were urged to establish themselves with new lodges to preserve and extend their experience, knowledge and commitment and in remembrance of many happy times spent in St Amphibalus Lodge and with an added wish that they maintained the St Amphibalus Lodge motto ‘Keep Faith’.
