Freemasons show continued support for hospices with £600,000

20 November, 2012

Six hospices in Hertfordshire have received donations from The Freemasons’ Grand Charity, totalling £13,480.

The hospices are the Garden House Hospice (North Herts Hospice Care Association), the Hospice of St Francis, the Isabel Hospice, the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, the Peace Hospice (South West Hertfordshire Hospice Charitable Trust) and St Albans and Dacorum. In addition £500 went to the Pepper Foundation.

239 adult and children’s hospices across England and Wales have received a total of £600,000. Since 1984, £9.9 million has been donated to hospices by The Freemasons’ Grand Charity. All donations are raised by Freemasons and their families and aim to assist hospices in their vital role in helping those affected by terminal or life limiting illness.

The Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Colin Harris, said: “Every year Freemasons all over the country work together to provide funding for hospice services. The care provided by our local hospices is exceptional, but financial support is fundamental to ensuring a continued good service. We recognise the vital role hospices play within our community here in Hertfordshire – and that is why we are so happy to continue with our support in 2012.”
