W. Bro. Graham Ellis PPGSuptWks of Stuart Lodge No.8578 is to receive the BEM for charitable services. This marks over 30 years of raising money for various local and national charities in which Graham estimates that he has raised almost half a million pounds.
Graham started fundraising in 1981 when he ran his first London Marathon with the proceeds going to the local hospital.
His last venture on 24th November saw him successfully complete a 100K trek across the Sahara Desert for the Stroke Association which has so far raised over £3000 with donations still coming in.
The route was very difficult over mountains, sand dunes and rocky plateaus, in temperatures exceeding 35 degrees in the day, plummeting to minus 5 when camping in the desert at night
