Masonic Fishing Charity

7 July, 2014

The Hertfordshire Branch of the Masonic Fishing Charity was represented at two events during May this year.

On 3rd May, Kimpton village held its 50th anniversary Festival and the Hertfordshire Branch had a stand at the show ground and also an entry in the Festival procession.

The Masonic Fishing Charity float won 2nd prize with “Monty” the 9ft trout.

During the Festival over 200 people visited the Masonic Fishing Charity stand and joined in the fun of the Duck Rescue game.

The duck Rescue game shows the fun side of Freemasons and draws attention to the good Freemasonry quietly does in the community.

James Young, Assistant. Provincial Grand Master made a visit and landed a duck.

On 24th and 25th May the Masonic Fishing Charity had a stand at the Hertfordshire County Show.

Despite the rain on the Saturday, over the weekend over 35,000 people attended the show over the two days. Monty the trout was again a great attraction and over 900 people participated in the Duck rescue game.

The Hertfordshire Show organisers awarded first prize in the Charity Trade Section to the Masonic Fishing Charity for their stand and display.

Both of these events showed a very positive face of Freemasonry in the Community and people of all ages are now aware of the work the Masonic Fishing Charity does putting smiles on the faces of people with special needs.

A spokesman for the Masonic Fishing Charity said “we are very pleased with the positive response and feedback received for the work of the Masonic Fishing Charity and are delighted with the number of potential new volunteers who expressed an interest in helping with the work of the Charity”. The help and Support from the Province of Hertfordshire is greatly appreciated.
