Message from the Provincial Grand Charity Steward

28 October, 2015

It is hard to believe that nearly two years have passed since the 2019 Festival launch events. Happy Hertfordshire Masons have donated in excess of £1m in support of the RMTGB toward our £3m target.

I know you are all kindly supporting the Festival but let’s not forget the amazing generosity of our 192 Lodges to their favourite local and National charities and good causes. East Herts donating £1915 to the Herts Society for the Blind in celebration of each other’s centenary year; Gadebourn Lodge “Bonkers Challenge” in support of the Pepper Foundation Children’s Hospice: Stortford Lodge holding their Grand Charity Ball favouring the Festival and Rickmansworth Lodge organising the Watford Beer Festival with over 100 beers and ciders on offer. Just a few of the excellent social events held for charity in general.

I have particularly enjoyed inviting Lodge Charity Stewards to present cheques on behalf of the Province to 8 Hospices (£26k) 46 local small charities and good causes (40k) and featuring these on the web site and in the Provincial Magazine.

We have continued with the Charity Stewards workshops sharing best practice and welcoming any recently appointed Charity Seward. We intend repeating these later in the year.

The Festival social events have been well supported with the June and September Clay Pigeon Shoots and the August Golf Day (raising nearly £3k for the RMTGB)

All in all a good start to the Festival but we now need the second wave of members to qualify as Stewards. (just £8.33 a month will immediately qualify you as Festival Steward)

I look forward to serving you and the Province as Provincial Grand Charity Steward for the next twelve months and would like to remind you that our Festival Team and I are here to support and help all of you with your charitable needs.
