Sewing for Safety in Felsted

10 July, 2020

Janet Johnston has been coordinating a team of volunteers to sew scrubs, masks and other items out of donated scrap materials

Over the border in Felsted, Essex, member of New Elizabethan Lodge No 7419, Keir Johnston, and his wife Janet have been doing what they can to help out during these difficult times.

As well as voluntary shopping and medicine pick-ups, Janet has also been organising anyone willing and equipped with a sewing machine to make medical scrubs, masks, wash bags and other accessories out of whatever scrap materials they can lay their hands on. The finished articles have been distributed amongst doctors’ surgeries, midwives and paramedics in their local area. To date, they have made and distributed over 300 items!
