It’s rare indeed to have the opportunity of being present at the centenary meeting of any lodge, rarer still, to be able to see the presentation of a Centenary Warrant with the historic background associated with Hertfordshire Regiment Lodge No. 4537.
Founded on the bonds of fraternal camaraderie forged whilst serving in the 1st Battalion Hertfordshire regiment during the First World War, it was in late 1922 that W. Bros A R Wilson and Major P E Longmore, of Hertford Lodge No. 403, first gave life to the formation of a Masonic Lodge.
As a result, Hertfordshire Regiment Lodge no. 4537 was consecrated on 26th September 1923. Initially taking its members from Hertfordshire Regiment and later from those who served in the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Since 1993 the lodge has been open to any person, whether or not they have any military connections.
On Friday 6th October 2023, Hertfordshire Regiment Lodge 4537 will be holding their special historic meeting dedicated to the presentation of a Centenary Warrant. It would be even more special and historic to have as many people as possible attend this meeting.
So, if you are from a military background with links to Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire; have a keen interest in military history; or just want to see the presentation of a Centenary Warrant, then this meeting will be of great interest.
Dining will be £25.00, payable in cash on the night.
Please contact Chris Butts via email to register your attendance or for further details.
